Jumping Jacks are a simple and effective drill for raising heart rate, warming the body, and coordinating the arms and legs. They work well at the start of a session, during active recovery, or as a quick reset between training blocks.
How to Perform
- Stand tall with the feet together or close and the arms relaxed at the sides.
- Jump the feet out to the sides while the arms travel up from the sides.
- At the top position, stay tall and keep the rhythm smooth.
- Jump lightly back to the start position and return the arms to the sides.
- Continue with an even, controlled pace.
Coaching Tips
- Land softly and stay light on the feet.
- Do not shrug the shoulders excessively.
- Avoid locking the knees as the feet open and close.
Programming Use
Use it as a general warm-up drill, a quick heart-rate raiser before an AMRAP, or an easy movement between other training pieces.
