Side Bend
HOW TO PERFORM

How to perform

The Side Bend is a simple drill for opening the sides of the torso, engaging the obliques, and preparing the trunk for better movement and stability. It can be used in a warm-up or as active recovery between training pieces.

How to Perform

  1. Stand tall with the feet about hip width apart.
  2. Raise one arm overhead while the other arm stays relaxed at the side.
  3. Without rotating the torso, gently bend to the opposite side.
  4. Feel a light stretch and engagement through the side body.
  5. Return to center and repeat on the other side.

Coaching Tips

  • Keep the hips as stable as possible.
  • The range should be comfortable and pain-free.
  • Use calm breathing while you move.

Programming Use

Helpful for preparing the trunk, warming the side body, and adding gentle movement at the start of a session.
